Why should I turn to a linguistic services provider for assistance?
At some stage we have all needed to translate a text of some kind, whether as a company, student, private individual, tourist or hobbyist. Various solutions are available depending on the intended use of the text: anyone requiring a rough translation for personal use may be satisfied with an automatic translator readily available on internet to which we provide links from our web site. But what about an agency contract, a promotional brochure or a technical manual? What would be the impact on your company image and what would be the responsibilities deriving from an automatic translation or a translation done by a person with only “approximate” knowledge of the source and/or target language?
Knowing how to change a car tyre does not make you a mechanic! Similarly, the translation of an agency contract requires a good knowledge of the source language and the skill to express the meaning in the target language using the appropriate legal terminology and linguistic style.
Our linguistic services company provides accurate translations by native speaker professionals who pay close attention to detail, to cultural standards and to the appropriateness of the linguistic style and terminology.

Why is it important to communicate the purpose of the translation?
Translating a memorandum of association is very different to translating an advertising slogan. The style, the choice of words, the length of the sentences are directly related to the nature of the translation. It is vital to let Mondo Lingue know the purpose of the translation so we can assign the project to the most appropriate translator in order to guarantee the best possible result.

Why does the translator ask me so many questions?
The translator’s job involves a close analysis of the written text in order to understand the various shades of meaning before rendering it in the target language. Consequently any inconsistencies in the original document come to light and the translator usually asks for clarification. Customers may, then, be contacted to clear up any ambiguities. It is worthwhile dedicating a little extra time to this phase in the translation process to ensure that the final document is clear, coherent and easy to understand.

Why is it important for the translator to have expertise in the subject matter of the document for translation?
If the translator is experienced in the given subject matter he/she will be able to produce a much more effective translation in the target language. Generally, a professional with good technical skills is preferable to an excellent translator that has no expertise in the subject matter. In any case, the more information the translator has at his/her disposal, the better the final result will be.

What exactly is MONDO LINGUE?
Mondo Lingue is a company that deals with translations and a comprehensive range of linguistic services. We work with a broad range of language pairs, with native speaker translators/interpreters selected according to their educational background and their basic professional skills, their experience gained in the specific sector and their computer skills. The quality of the texts is guaranteed by differentiated quality controls carried out on the translation before it is handed over to the Customer.

Do you work for companies or for private individuals?
We mostly work for companies, but we often also have requests for translations from private individuals which we are pleased to satisfy.

How much does a translation cost ?
Prices vary according to the length, the difficulty, the format and the language pair.
When calculating the cost of a translation we also need to take several other factors into consideration, such as the specific needs of the customer, the volume, the delivery deadline and the effort required of the translator; a translation for internal company use, for example, implies less effort and less time and consequently the costs will be lower; translation of a text for publication involves higher costs as the linguistic style and expression require more careful attention.

How can I get a free translation quote?
You can either phone us or send an email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . To prepare the quote we need a copy of the file, information about the target languages and your contact details. For documents larger than 10 Mb please contact us before sending the file and we will provide you with FTP access to our server.

Can I get a quote without sending the file?
If your document is in Word® format you can count the characters using the “Tool”  “Word Count” function and send us the character count with spaces.
If your document is in OpenOffice®, calculate the characters using the File  Properties  Statistics function.
Most writing/page setting programs have similar functions for counting characters but, if you can’t find it, simply copy and paste the text in a Word® or OpenOffice® document and proceed as described above.
Once we have the character count we can promptly send you an approximate quote, then, when we receive the actual document we will provide a more detailed quote.

The document is in paper format, can you give me a quote?
Send us the document by fax, post or carrier, specify the target languages for translation and your contact details, and you will receive a prompt quote.

Which formats can you handle?
We can work with a wide range of formats, such as : Word®, PowerPoint®, Excel®, PageMaker®, Indesign®, Publisher®, Access®, as well as text files in the major programming languages.

Can you maintain the page setting?
Normally we overwrite the text on the original document without changing the style or format: you will therefore receive the translated document with a layout that is very similar to the original. Any small variations will be caused by the different length of the texts in the various languages.
If you only have a paper version or a PDF® file we can, if required, reconstruct the original layout.
Rearranging the original layout of texts with complex layouts that lose their structure when edited could entail an additional cost.

Is my information safe?
Confidentiality is a major concern for Mondo Lingue.
We are strictly committed to maintaining our Customers’ confidentiality.
All our staff members (translators, interpreters, employees and freelancers) are bound in writing to maintain the confidentiality of all information received.

What are your turnaround times?
Our turnaround time depends on several factors such as, for example, the length and nature of the text, the language pair and the original format.
If you have an urgent timeframe we can activate an urgent project procedure or assign different sections of the text to a number of different translators.
Mondo Lingue will always indicate the anticipated turnaround time for every project and is seriously committed to respecting the deadline.
